10.7 lakh voters flagged, not deleted — yet
Medchal–Malkajgiri’s draft roll has 19,07,564 electors against a pre-SIR figure of about 29.79 lakh. The Election Commission says notices, inquiry and appeals must come before final deletion.
The Medchal–Malkajgiri draft roll lists 10,71,566 electors in the ASDD category pending verification.
More than 10 lakh electors in Medchal–Malkajgiri have been placed in the ASDD category during the Special Intensive Revision. They have not, on the available record, been permanently deleted. Draft rolls are not final rolls, however much the paperwork may enjoy sounding conclusive.
The district had about 29.79 lakh electors before the exercise, while 19,07,564 appear in the draft roll. The difference — 10,71,566 — matches the reported ASDD count: Absent, Shifted, Dead/Deleted or Duplicate. Reports also list 10,72,599 electors as “unmapped” and 3,34,252 as anomalies, but the public material does not establish whether these categories overlap or how they relate to the ASDD figure.
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy said no entry would be deleted from the draft roll without notice, an inquiry and a fair opportunity to respond. The final roll was scheduled for October 19, 2026. Until then, calling the ASDD figure “missing votes” is premature; calling more than 10 lakh electors in need of verification a minor detail would be worse.
