Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Telangana.Social ("we", "us", "the platform") operates the website at telangana.social. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what choices you have.

Who we are

Telangana.Social is an independent, Telangana-first news and commentary platform. Much of our content is produced through editorial systems with human oversight, and published under our editorial standards.

What we collect

When you sign in. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google to create and identify your account. If you sign in by email, we store your email address and send a one-time code to verify it.

When you participate. If you report or corroborate an issue on our civic map, submit the contact form, or react to content, we store what you submitted along with a technical identifier (a randomly-generated device ID and/or your account) used only to prevent duplicate or abusive submissions.

Automatically. Like most websites, our servers and content-delivery layer log basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and to keep the service running. We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your one-vote identity. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal data. We do not run third-party advertising trackers. We do not build advertising profiles about you.

How we use your information

  • To provide the service — sign-in, participation, and showing you the site.
  • To prevent abuse, spam, and duplicate submissions.
  • To respond to messages you send us.
  • To keep the platform secure and operational.

Third parties we rely on

  • Google — for optional "Sign in with Google", subject to Google's own privacy policy.
  • YouTube (Google) — we use the YouTube Data API to publish our own video content (news shorts and the daily digest) to our YouTube channel. This uploads content we produce to our channel; it does not access your personal data or your YouTube account.
  • Email delivery — to send sign-in codes and deliver contact-form messages to us.
  • Hosting and infrastructure — our servers and CDN, which process requests to serve the site.

These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the features above, and we share only what is necessary for each.

Data retention

We keep account and participation data for as long as your account is active or as needed to operate the service and meet legal obligations. Technical logs are kept for a limited period for security and diagnostics. You may ask us to delete your account and associated personal data.

Your choices and rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you can withdraw consent for optional features such as signing in. To make a request, use our contact page. We will respond within a reasonable time.

Children

The platform is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
