13.3 crore voters vanish from draft rolls. ECI shrugs.
The ECI says omitted voters can seek inclusion before the final roll. It has not shown how many names will actually come back.
The remedy exists on paper; the Commission has yet to show how many names return.
The BJP is right about one narrow point: 13.3 crore names reportedly absent from draft electoral rolls are not automatically 13.3 crore permanent deletions. The Election Commission's process allows claims, objections, notices and applications for inclusion before final publication. Calling the voters "flagged" does not make them present on the draft roll. At that stage, an omitted voter is simply not available to vote unless the process puts the name back.
The ECI says its objective is that "No eligible citizen is left out while no ineligible person is included in the Electoral Roll." It says Booth Level Officers must visit households, distribute and verify forms, and that electors unable to submit enumeration forms may use Form 6 during the claims-and-objections period. The remedy exists on paper. The Commission has not shown that every exclusion is accurate, that every voter was individually notified, or that every affected person can use the remedy without difficulty.
Telangana is not watching this from the gallery. The ECI's announced schedule listed 33,920,705 electors in the state as of May 12, 2026, with draft rolls due on July 31 and the final roll on October 1. A later report said the timetable was extended by 10 days, but the revised ECI order has not turned up anywhere in the record checked for this piece. That is a modest administrative detail right up until a voter's name goes missing and the deadline does the disappearing act.
The BJP's category-wise explanation — deceased, shifted, duplicate and untraceable voters — remains a political classification reported through secondary accounts, not an independently verified ECI dataset. The Commission needs to publish the definitions, state-wise totals, reasons for exclusion and restoration figures, not a press note about its own good intentions. "Not deleted" is not the same as "still on the roll". Delhi built a procedure; it still has to prove that procedure can fix Delhi's own mistakes before Telangana's voters are asked to take it on faith.
