BRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao on Tuesday demanded the resignation of Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, accusing the Congress government in Telangana of presiding over private properties being added to the Section 22A prohibited-properties list. He made the call at a citizens’ protest in Malkajgiri, alongside MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, and said the Chief Minister should drop Ponguleti from the Cabinet. According to the report and Harish Rao’s own public post, he wants a government investigation, a white paper and corrective action.
Harish Rao alleged the scale runs into large numbers, citing figures like thousands of properties and several thousand acres, and said BRS will raise the matter in the Assembly and legally. Those figures are his claims; the government has not published district-wise orders, numbers or dates for when the disputed entries were made. He also scoffed at the minister’s attempt to pass the buck to officials — “blame the babu, keep the chair” is not an accountability model.
What is on record: the state maintains a prohibited-properties mechanism, with a public search and a grievance route on the Bhu Bharati portal. What is not on record yet: who authorised the disputed inclusions, when they were uploaded, and how many entries are wrong. The Congress government in Telangana has not bothered to explain any of that.
