28,753 Form 7s, zero automatic deletions
Telangana’s chief electoral officer says bulk voter-deletion applications will be verified before action. The paperwork, rather than the political theatre, still has to do the work.
Bulk Form 7 applications are to be verified before any voter is deleted from the roll.
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy has said bulk Form 7 applications will be investigated and verified before any voter’s name is deleted. Applications submitted in bulk, including those associated with a political party, would require a “speaking-order and type-order”, he said, according to contemporaneous reports.
The Election Commission’s Form 7 is used to object to an elector’s inclusion or seek deletion on grounds including death, permanent relocation, duplicate enrolment, being underage or non-citizenship. Its guidelines place the burden of proof on the applicant, while the form warns that false declarations may attract punishment under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. The form is not a deletion button, despite how election-season paperwork is sometimes treated.
A reported 28,753 Form 7 applications had been filed in Telangana by October 1, 2026. Reddy also said claims and objections would be published on the chief electoral officer’s website so citizens could inspect them and lodge objections. The reported schedule puts October 7 as the deadline for claims and objections, November 5 for disposal and November 9 for the final roll. The number classified as “bulk”, the identity of any political-party applicants and the verification workflow have not been published in the material reviewed. No specific party’s improper submission has been established.
