30,09,212 to 26,52,162: the missing table
BRS says Telangana government-school enrolment fell by 3,57,050 students. The arithmetic works. The year-wise record is less cooperative.

BRS leader and former minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy has alleged that Telangana’s government-school enrolment fell from 30,09,212 during 2022–23 to 26,52,162 in 2025–26 — a difference of 3,57,050 students. The subtraction is sound. The political conclusion still needs the department’s table.
The 30,09,212 figure is documented for 2022–23. The 26,52,162 figure has been attributed to School Education Directorate officials, but the underlying signed dataset was not available in the material reviewed. Meanwhile, the Union Education Ministry’s UDISE+ report records 26,29,488 government-school students in 2024–25. If the department’s 2025–26 figure uses the same categories, enrolment rose by 22,674 in the latest year.
That does not erase the fall between 2022–23 and 2024–25. It does mean the Congress government’s account and the BRS allegation are currently talking across different tables — and the government has not published the table that would settle the argument. Until it does, “parents have lost confidence” remains a political claim, not a finding. The missing document is doing more work than the speeches.
