The Congress government in Telangana has opened applications for 41 new 2B bar licences, while the separate claim that 105 government schools are being closed or merged still has no published school-wise order behind it. One side has a notification; the other has a number doing political duty.
Applications opened on September 28 and close on October 12, according to published reports. Fourteen licences are planned for the Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri urban region, and 27 for other municipalities and municipal corporations. The application fee is ₹1 lakh; annual licence fees range from ₹30 lakh to ₹44 lakh. The Excise Department’s service chart confirms the ₹1 lakh Form 1(A) fee for a new 2B bar.
KTR has demanded that the bar plan and the alleged school mergers be withdrawn. His school claim has not been matched by a government order, proceedings document or list identifying the 105 schools. The Telangana Education Commission’s policy does envisage consolidation in some cases, but says no school should be merged or repurposed without an equal or better alternative and reasonable travel time. The Congress government has yet to publish the missing paperwork. For now, the bars have an application process; the 105 schools have a headline.
