Telangana’s SIR draft roll has left millions of entries flagged or uncollected. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy says the BJP is attempting a backdoor entry through voter deletion. The record so far proves a large verification exercise, not a completed political purge.

Telangana’s electoral-roll revision has produced a number large enough to alarm any voter: 3,38,26,448 enumeration forms were distributed, 2,64,73,616 were submitted and digitised, and 73,52,832 were classified as uncollectable, according to figures attributed to the Chief Electoral Officer’s office. Revanth Reddy has alleged that the BJP is using the Special Intensive Revision to win Telangana through the “backdoor” and has accused the BRS of supporting that effort. Those are political allegations, not findings established by the Election Commission. The official process distinguishes uncollected forms from final deletion and provides for verification, claims and objections. The Congress government in Telangana has a real duty here: publish booth-wise data, explain every “Absent, Shifted, Dead or Duplicate” entry and make the correction process usable. The BJP and the Centre have not publicly answered the allegation in the material reviewed. Silence is not a voter-verification method. Neither is calling 73 lakh possible deletions a settled fact before the objections are even counted.
