The Telangana employees’ agitation has been paused, not withdrawn, Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee chairman Maram Jagadeeshwar said on September 27. He said protests would resume in phases over pending dearness allowance (DA) instalments and the Pay Revision Commission (PRC).
Jagadeeshwar said two DAs had been announced, one due from July 2026 was still pending and three instalments remained outstanding. He also said the PRC had to be announced. Recent talks were inconclusive, according to a September 24 report that quoted Jagadeeshwar and TGEJAC secretary general Eluri Sreenivas Rao. The report said employee bodies were given no firm timetable for clearing dues, while another union welcomed the proposed release of two DAs. Even the unions have not been handed the same script.
IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu said employee issues would be resolved one by one and claimed pending bills had fallen from ₹25,000 crore to ₹11,000 crore. An official January release supports an ₹11,000 crore employee-benefit dues figure, but not the alleged reduction or its calculation. The Congress government has assurances, competing union accounts and no published settlement timetable. The agitation, accordingly, remains only paused.
