Two BRS MLCs were arrested on September 8 over alleged remarks concerning Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. T. Madhusudhan Reddy, known as Tatha Madhu, and N. Naveen Kumar Reddy were produced before a Nampally court, which rejected police remand and granted them bail on personal bonds of Rs 20,000 each with two sureties. They were directed to appear in person on September 17. [1][2]
The Telangana Assembly also adopted a resolution asking BRS chief and Leader of the Opposition K. Chandrashekar Rao to take responsibility for the alleged conduct and tender an unconditional apology. The reported wording invokes “institutional integrity, decency and decorum”. Congress workers and Dalit activists were reported to have marched towards KCR’s Erravelli residence and were stopped before reaching it. KTR and other BRS leaders were also reported to have been stopped and placed in preventive custody while travelling there. KTR alleged selective policing; that claim remains uncorroborated by an official police account. The government has produced a resolution, the court has produced bail, and the crucial transcript is still apparently on a longer journey.
