Bhupalpally: Congress quiet, questions loud
A Bhupalpally journalist says Congress functionaries beat him at home for his reporting. The BJP and TDP have nothing to say, and the sitting Congress MLA has not bothered to answer the allegation that it happened with his backing.

A journalist in Jayashankar Bhupalpally has alleged he was assaulted at home by a Congress district functionary and two associates for writing on them — and that his wife was throttled when she tried to intervene. The account is his, recorded in a report published on August 17; no police complaint, FIR, hospital bulletin or arrest has been put on the public record yet.
According to the report, Pulla Ravinder of Chityala mandal headquarters said Congress district general secretary Mukirala Madhu Vamshi, with Bojjam Venu and Nataraj, entered his house on Sunday night and asked, “Do you write news about us?”, before abusing him with a caste slur and attacking him. Relatives took him to the district 100-bed hospital, the report says. Former Bhupalpally MLA and BRS leader Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy visited and gave Rs 5,000, and he alleged the assault happened with the support of sitting Congress MLA Gandra Satyanarayana Rao — demanding immediate arrests. Those are allegations on the record; the report carries no FIR number, doctor’s statement, injury list or police response.
What is established independently is the MLA on the seat: the Telangana Assembly’s rolls list Gandra Satyanarayana Rao as the Congress MLA for Bhupalpalle. What is not established is everything the police or hospital would normally confirm — complaint filed, sections, injuries, detentions — and the Congress side’s version. The Congress MLA named in the allegation has not bothered to answer it.
