Black shirts barred, Congress record still pending

The Telangana Assembly’s monsoon session opened with the Congress government objecting to the colour black — more precisely, to the words printed on it.
BRS legislators arrived wearing black T-shirts carrying slogans about the Congress government’s failure to deliver on its 1,000-day record. Police stopped those wearing slogan-bearing shirts from entering the Assembly premises. K. T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao were detained along with other BRS legislators, according to reports. The exact number detained and where they were taken remains unclear.
Khairatabad Zone DCP Shilpavali said black T-shirts were not a crime and that the legislators were stopped only because of the wording on them. Police said they acted on the Speaker’s instructions. The Assembly has not published a formal order or rule explaining the restriction.
BRS members had earlier gathered at Gun Park and demanded a longer session to discuss electoral promises, fee reimbursement, farmers, Singareni workers and auto drivers. Reports also carried allegations of rough handling and minor injuries; these have not been independently verified through medical or official records. The Congress government has not publicly answered the protest’s 1,000-day performance charge in the material reviewed.
The slogans were kept outside. The questions were detained at the gate.
