BRS asks for 6,000 acres back; records still missing

The BRS says approximately 6,000 acres across Rekurthi, Sitarampur, Kothapalli and Chintakunta in Karimnagar were placed on the Section 22A prohibited-properties list, and wants them removed. The party raised the demand at a protest on September 3, according to a published report.
Gangula Kamalakar, the BRS MLA for Karimnagar, alleged that patta lands were added after the Congress government came to power, leaving owners unable to sell them. He said the issue would be raised in the Assembly on September 7. The legislature’s public calendar displays that date, but does not confirm that this specific matter has been admitted for debate.
The four localities are listed by the Karimnagar district administration. Section 22A does permit restrictions in specified categories, while a Telangana High Court order requires authorities to identify the applicable clause, publish relevant records and consider deletion or modification requests.
The missing pieces are the useful ones: survey numbers, village-wise lists, acreage calculations, the legal clause applied and the government’s reasons. The Telangana government and district authorities have not publicly responded to the allegations in the material reviewed. The Congress government has supplied the restriction; so far, it has not supplied the paperwork explaining it.
