BRS takes Telangana’s case to Raj Bhavan
KTR says the party will approach national rights bodies if the Governor’s intervention does not deliver justice. A separate police case has also been registered against him and other BRS leaders.
The BRS has submitted a representation to the Governor and said it may approach national rights bodies; police have registered a separate case against its leaders.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on September 9 with a delegation, submitting a representation over what the party says is the treatment of its legislators by the Telangana government and police. The list includes alleged police manhandling, alleged mistreatment of women MLAs, restrictions on entering the Assembly, the suspension of more than 20 BRS MLAs, an alleged incident involving K Chandrashekhar Rao’s residence and alleged AI-generated material targeting BRS leaders. KTR said the Governor assured the delegation that he would summon the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police for an inquiry. No separate statement from the Governor’s office was located. KTR also said the BRS would approach the National Human Rights Commission and National Commission for Women in Delhi if it did not receive justice in Telangana. (NT News)
The allegations remain the BRS account; no independent finding that police assaulted legislators or behaved indecently towards women MLAs was located. Meanwhile, Saifabad police registered a separate case against KTR, T Harish Rao and others on a woman constable’s complaint alleging criminal force, intimidation and humiliation of women police personnel during the Assembly protest. Those allegations, too, remain unadjudicated. (The New Indian Express)
