Bullet train, disputed land, and a very busy government
The Telangana High Court has paused coercive action on 26.03 acres at Bahadurguda. KTR says the Congress government is using development as cover; the record so far proves a land dispute, not his wider land-deal allegation.
The proposed rail hub has arrived before the land records have been settled.
A proposed high-speed rail hub near Shamshabad has produced the sort of development story in which the train is still proposed, but the land dispute is already fully operational.
Reports identify about 650 acres in Survey Nos. 28 and 62 at Bahadurguda for a hub linked to proposed Hyderabad–Bengaluru, Hyderabad–Chennai and Hyderabad–Mumbai corridors. On July 18, HYDRAA and revenue officials fenced the land. Farmers protested, several were detained and police were deployed. Officials said the parcel was government land and fencing was needed to prevent encroachment.
Farmers disputed that account. On July 20, the Telangana High Court ordered status quo on 26.03 acres after Jakkidi Yadi Reddy and three other agriculturists challenged the action. They said they had possessed and cultivated the land since 1989–90. The Advocate General disputed their title claims and said key records had not been produced. The order does not settle ownership.
KTR has accused Congress leaders of opening a “land deal” in the bullet-train project’s name and said the BRS supports the rail project but not taking farmers’ land in the name of development. That allegation has not been established by the material reviewed. The same applies to his claims about Congress-linked real estate interests, 4,000 police personnel and a requirement of roughly 1,000 acres.
Reports also say a preliminary notification covers 796.28 acres for an Integrated Mobility Hub. The published breakdowns disagree: one gives 650 acres of government land and 146.28 acres of private land; another gives 750 acres and 46.28 acres. The official notification has not been published in the material reviewed.
The Congress government now has a simple task: produce the land records, the project requirement and the acquisition terms. “Development” is not a title deed.
