Congress cabinet drama: still no decision
Konda Surekha remains a Telangana minister as the Congress disciplinary process over her daughter’s remarks continues. Delhi may discuss it. Delhi has not decided it.
The minister remains in office as the disciplinary process awaits a decision.
The Congress has managed to turn a cabinet question into a waiting-room exercise. Konda Surekha remains listed by the Telangana government as Minister for Environment and Forests, and Endowments, while the party’s disciplinary process over remarks made by her daughter, Konda Sushmitha Patel, is still under consideration.
TPCC disciplinary committee chairman Mallu Ravi said the committee had examined Surekha’s explanation and related video material but had not taken a final decision. “We will follow the principles of natural justice,” he said. Ravi also said Surekha should condemn her daughter’s remarks. Sushmitha, meanwhile, said the comments were her personal opinion and had nothing to do with her mother.
Reports say Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy may discuss the issue with Congress central leaders during a Delhi visit, possibly alongside a wider cabinet reshuffle. That remains reported possibility, not a confirmed agenda or decision. No resignation request, dismissal order, reshuffle notification or final disciplinary recommendation has been publicly recorded.
For now, the official position is simple: Surekha is still a minister. The Congress has yet to decide whether its suspense deserves a sequel.
