Congress demands attendance; KCR orders it
Ahead of the September 7 Assembly session, KCR directed BRS legislators to attend proceedings. Congress held a dharna demanding his resignation, citing attendance claims that remain unverified.

The Telangana Assembly is due to begin its session on September 7. One day before it, K. Chandrashekar Rao chaired a BRS legislature-party meeting at Erravelli and directed the party’s MLAs and MLCs to attend proceedings and participate in discussions, according to reports. The official Telangana government portal lists KCR as the BRS MLA for Gajwel and Leader of the Opposition.
The Congress held a Maha Dharna at Indira Park on September 6, demanding KCR’s resignation as MLA; some Congress leaders framed the demand as his resignation as Leader of the Opposition. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar alleged that KCR had drawn an MLA salary for nearly 1,000 days, failed to attend proceedings regularly and was inaccessible to constituents. Those claims have not been backed by an official attendance register, payroll record or Assembly document in the material reviewed. Congress has supplied the allegation; the records have not yet supplied the number.
The BRS plans to raise fee-reimbursement dues, Section 22-A land restrictions, irrigation, power cuts, farm-loan waivers and employee issues. The party’s accounts of the underlying failures remain political claims. The government’s August release invited KCR to attend the session and offer suggestions. Congress has now made attendance the opening act; the Assembly will provide the transcript.
