Congress gets 420 promises, BRS brings 420-foot flexi
The BRS held rallies, Vanta-Vaarpu programmes and road blockades across several Telangana districts on September 4, accusing the Congress government of failing to deliver its election guarantees. The government has published its own account of welfare and development work.
BRS and the Telangana government have presented competing accounts of the government’s record; an independent audit is yet to appear.
The BRS spent the third day of its week-long “Samarabheri” campaign taking the Congress government’s 1,000-day record to the streets. Rallies, Vanta-Vaarpu programmes, protests and road blockades were reported across several districts on September 4, with a 420-foot flexi displayed in Mahabubabad. The party says the government has failed to fulfil 420 promises and six guarantees, including commitments on pensions, women’s assistance and farmer support. Those are BRS allegations, not an independently audited scorecard. The party has also released “Due Cards” and a chargesheet, because apparently one spreadsheet was not dramatic enough. The Congress government’s separate defence says it filled 72,000 government posts, spent ₹1.70 lakh crore on farmers’ welfare, waived ₹2 lakh in loans for 25 lakh farmers and implemented free bus travel for women and free electricity up to 200 units under Gruha Jyothi. These remain government claims, though they are on the official record. (Telangana government)
The BRS has brought the receipts it says are due. The Congress has brought its own account book. The audit is still missing.
