Congress-linked leaders join BRS; six names surface

Six local political figures described in published reports as Congress-linked were presented as joining the BRS at a programme in Rajendranagar on September 27, attended by BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao. The event was held at the BRS office in Ranga Reddy district under the leadership of party in-charge Patlolla Karthik Reddy, according to the reports.

The named entrants were B. Sai Reddy, B. Raju, Yalala Naresh, Papalal Singh, Jaihind Rao and Yalala Lavanya. The reports describe them as former Congress office-bearers or local elected representatives, and say others also joined. The exact number, their current party affiliations and whether any still hold elected office were not independently established.

BRS leaders used the programme to predict Congress’s “tenure” was over and that the BRS would return to power. KTR also alleged that the Congress government had hurt real estate through “30 per cent commissions” and cancelled the Raidurg–Shamshabad Metro tender. Those claims were political statements, not established by the material reviewed. Congress has not publicly answered the claims in the available reports. For now, Rajendranagar has a joining event, not proof that the electoral map has already packed its bags.
