Congress ‘opens’ TIMS, blocks the tour
BRS leaders say Hyderabad police stopped them from visiting the just-inaugurated Sanathnagar TIMS, while the gate carried a notice pausing inpatient admissions for “sanitation”. The BJP and TDP are busy elsewhere; the Congress government had time to cut a ribbon and guard a door.

BRS leaders including T. Harish Rao, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, P. Sabitha Indra Reddy and Mannu Krishank said Hyderabad police stationed outside their homes on Wednesday morning stopped them from visiting the newly inaugurated Sanathnagar Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS). Namasthe Telangana reported officers at Harish Rao’s Kokapet residence also blocked his vehicle, leading to an argument. It named SR Nagar ACP Raghavendra Rao and Borabanda Inspector Ravi Kumar as supervising the deployment. The Congress government has not bothered to explain who ordered this or why.
At the hospital, a gate notice said inpatient services would remain closed till August 20 for sanitation work and apologised for the inconvenience, according to the same report’s photograph. Outpatient and emergency services were not detailed there. Two days earlier, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had inaugurated TIMS, presented as a 1,082‑bed, 300‑ICU‑bed super‑speciality built at a reported cost of Rs 1,100 crore.
Pending works at TIMS were still being expedited as recently as late May, per earlier reporting. That would make a straightforward opposition inspection useful, unless the Congress government prefers photo‑ops to questions. It has yet to answer why a hospital open enough for a ribbon was too delicate for a visit.
