ECI moves Telangana’s SIR draft to August 10 and final roll to October 12. More time to check names — and fewer excuses from the BJP and Congress when they pretend a spreadsheet ate the electorate.

Telangana’s Special Intensive Revision now runs on a new clock: the draft electoral roll lands August 10, not July 31, and the final roll is due October 12, eleven days after the earlier October 1 plan. Booth Level Officers keep knocking till August 3. Claims and objections window: August 10–September 9. According to the ECI schedules, the qualifying date is October 1, 2026.
That is ten extra days between house-to-house work and the draft, and a longer path to the final list. Translation: voters get more room to catch deletions and file corrections, and parties get fewer alibis for not running their booth machinery — especially the BJP and the Congress, who discover “process issues” the minute ground work starts.
The Chief Electoral Officer earlier explained that only those who submit SIR enumeration forms make it to the draft, with form-based corrections after. Urban execution has been bumpy — address mix-ups and mass moves have left BLOs chasing doors in Hyderabad and Medchal — but that is an operational mess to fix, not a licence for the national parties to pre-write the outrage. The ECI’s revised dates make the job simpler; ducking it is on them.
What this schedule does not tell you: how many names will shift, which communities are hit, or who benefits. Those numbers arrive with the August 10 draft and the objections that follow. Until then, the only settled fact is the calendar — and the BJP and Congress running out of days to blame it instead of doing the work.
