Employees plan protest; BRS says go on

The Telangana Employees, Gazetted Officers, Teachers, Workers and Pensioners Joint Action Committee (TGEJAC) has outlined protests across the state on August 27 and proposed a Hyderabad mahadharna on September 10 if demands go unanswered, according to a report dated August 18. The programme, as reported, cites unresolved issues including healthcare access under the Employees Health Scheme (EHS), pay-related dues and other pending bills. The state has not published a detailed response to the schedule.
Four days later, a separate report said the BRS has announced support for the employees’ action, with former minister V. Srinivas Goud speaking at a Hyderabad press meet. His remarks, as quoted, questioned why EHS wasn’t functioning in hospitals if contributions were being collected. Those claims remain his, reported via a secondary source; the government has not produced a point-by-point reply.
On paper, EHS exists to provide cashless treatment for employees, pensioners and dependents through empanelled hospitals. In June, the Congress government in Telangana highlighted MoUs for employee insurance coverage and said it had released the first ₹1,000 crore instalment toward retirement benefits, with further funds in tranches. What it has not done is speak directly to the protest calendar or the specific grievances raised.
So the line-up, as things stand: employees say they will be on the streets on August 27 if they must; the BRS says it will not stand in their way; and the Congress government in Telangana has not bothered to lay out its side beyond a general insurance MoU and a funding note. If it has a better answer than silence, now would be the time to use it.
