Employees up, Congress quiet
State staff unions will hit Indira Park and district collectorates on August 27 over EHS, PRC, DA and pensions. BRS says it backs them. The Congress government has yet to explain why deductions are on while hospitals say no.

Telangana’s employee unions have called protests for August 27 — a state-level mahadharna at Indira Park in Hyderabad alongside dharnas at district collectorates — over a stack of pending promises: fixing the Employees Health Scheme (EHS), implementing the second Pay Revision Commission, clearing DA/DR instalments and restoring the old pension system. According to reports from employee bodies and district JACs, an escalation is planned on September 10 under a “Chalo Hyderabad” banner if nothing moves before then.
The BRS, in opposition, says it supports the mobilisation. A report quotes former minister V. Srinivas Goud asking why EHS deductions are being taken while employees are being turned away at hospitals, and pledging the party “will not tolerate any harassment” of staff. Those are his on‑record claims as carried by the report; a primary BRS note or video was not located in this search.
On the record, the government has issued fresh EHS orders this summer — reconstituting the Employees Health Care Trust and notifying a 1.5% deduction from basic pay or pension for cashless treatment through empanelled hospitals. What those documents do not say is whether the cashless bit is actually working at the counter, which is the part employees are protesting.
Employees JAC leaders and the TGO Association have listed the same demands and set the Hyderabad venue. The exact headcount, traffic plan and permissions were not published by the departments. The Congress government in Telangana has not bothered to explain why deductions are up to date but the scheme isn’t at the bedside — and that gap is what people are marching for.
