BRS and Congress workers exchanged arguments and slogans during a GO 118 certificate-distribution programme at Saroornagar Indoor Stadium on September 19. The event was meant to hand regularisation documents to residents. Politics, predictably, wanted the stage too.
Reports said BRS workers objected to being kept off the stage while Congress leaders were allowed access. During LB Nagar MLA D. Sudheer Reddy’s address, slogans were raised, and he was quoted as telling Congress workers: “Don’t instigate BRS workers to reciprocate. Mend your ways.” A report said police dispersed the workers, but no police statement, FIR or injury report was found.
Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Mohammed Azharuddin attended. Government Order 118 covers 44 colonies and sets regularisation at Rs 250 per square yard. Ponguleti told the Assembly that 9,792 people had applied; the government said the first distribution covered around 22–23 LB Nagar colonies. The exact event-day beneficiary count and document type remain unclear. The paperwork is still being regularised. The stage protocol apparently is not.
