Gutha asks Congress to reshuffle its reshuffle

Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy has asked the Congress government in Telangana to reshuffle the Cabinet, saying a change could bring “fresh energy” and address dissatisfaction among party leaders. He made the remarks during an informal interaction at the Council on August 29, according to published reports.

“There needs to be a change in the Cabinet. There needs to be a change in the government. The existing Cabinet should be reshuffled,” Gutha was quoted as saying. On Minister Konda Surekha, he said the issue should not be allowed to continue unresolved, suggesting either her removal or a wider reshuffle. “Allowing it to fester would not help the government,” he said.

Gutha also called for Section 22-A to be scrapped, warning that the issue would otherwise give the government “a bad name”. The government has not confirmed a reshuffle, action against Surekha or abolition of Section 22-A. Its latest public position cited here is Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s assurance that survey numbers on the prohibited list would receive sub-numbers, while court-related lands would be kept aside. The Congress government has yet to turn Gutha’s demands into a decision; for now, the Cabinet remains exactly where it was.
