The notices demand withdrawal, apologies on the same platforms, takedown of videos, and warn of civil and criminal action if ignored. The Congress leaders have yet to answer on the record.

BRS deputy floor leader T. Harish Rao has sent legal notices to Congress MLC Addanki Dayakar and TPCC media committee chairman Sama Ramamohan over alleged remarks that he performed “tantric” rituals to prevent rain in Telangana, according to a report. The notices, issued on Monday, seek withdrawal of the statements, public apologies on the same channels and platforms, and deletion of related videos and posts; they warn of civil, criminal and defamation proceedings if the demands aren’t met. According to the report’s account of the notices, Harish Rao terms the allegations baseless and intended to damage his reputation, and says temple visits to fulfil vows are part of tradition — not political fodder.
What the report does not include: the text of the notices, the original videos or posts, when and where the remarks were made, or a deadline for compliance. It also carries no response from Dayakar or Ramamohan. If the Congress intends to stand by the claim, the floor is open; if not, they can say so and retract. The BJP will no doubt enjoy the spectacle from the sidelines; they usually do when a smear can do the work of governance for them. For now, the record is simple: the BRS leader has moved, and the Congress leaders have not bothered to answer it on the record.
