Jurala farmers seek water; governments offer paperwork

Farmers protesting for irrigation water at the Priyadarshini Jurala Project in Jogulamba Gadwal district were met with police restrictions, while the actual water position remained unpublished in the available record.
Farmers from Revulapalli and Bhimpuram held a sit-in on September 22, saying their crops had been drying for a week. Reports said police detained or placed under house arrest several BRS leaders, including former ministers Singireddy Niranjan Reddy and C. Laxma Reddy. BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao was also reportedly detained while travelling to meet the farmers.
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao demanded water release and alleged that Jurala held enough water for the purpose. The reported figures varied between 9 TMCft and 8.4 TMCft, and no current official storage record was located. Telangana ministers separately sought 5,000 cusecs from Karnataka for a month. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar reportedly responded positively and assured a 10-day release schedule under Warabandi. No dispatch order, measured inflow or confirmation that the water reached Jurala was found.
The protests are documented. The water is still somewhere between a demand and a delivery schedule.
