Nag Ashwin says regular filming for Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2 is expected to begin in October 2026, with the director hoping to finish shooting by mid-2027. He told India Today: “We’re starting the shoot regularly from next month and, hopefully, it should be done with the shoot by mid next year.”
That is an interview-based expectation, not a formal production calendar from Vyjayanthi Movies. The exact start date, shooting locations, schedule blocks and release date remain unannounced. The sequel is also not beginning entirely from zero: a separate report said about 10 days had already been filmed, though that detail is based on earlier reporting rather than a formal production document.
The update arrives after the first film’s two National Film Awards. The official government list records Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Production Design—not Best Special Effects, as one report described it. The sequel, meanwhile, is being promised as “the epic” audiences were promised. For now, October is the plan, mid-2027 is the hope, and the release date is still enjoying government-level secrecy.
