KCR’s protest plan has water; attendance does not
The BRS says KCR will lead a post-session agitation over Telangana’s irrigation projects, but reports disagree on whether he will skip the Assembly.
The BRS has announced a post-session irrigation agitation, while the attendance question remains unsettled.
The BRS says K Chandrasekhar Rao will lead a people’s movement after the Assembly session over what it describes as the Congress government’s neglect of the Kaleshwaram and Palamuru-Rangareddy projects. The announcement followed a BRS Legislature Party meeting chaired by KCR at Erravelli on September 6. The protest has a slogan, if not yet a date, route or turnout plan.
Harish Rao said the party would take the irrigation issue to the people and “teach the Congress a fitting lesson”, according to a report on the meeting. KCR was also reported to have questioned the government’s handling of Medigadda, water supply and Telangana’s water interests. Those remain BRS allegations; the material reviewed does not establish the current status of repairs, releases or project completion.
KCR’s own Assembly attendance is less tidy. One report said he would skip the session, while UNI reported that he directed BRS legislators to attend and participate in debates. BRS legislators did appear at the Assembly gates on September 7, where police stopped some of them over black T-shirts. The Congress government has yet to make the attendance question easier than it needs to be. For now, the agitation is announced; KCR’s absence is not confirmed.
