Khanapur’s defection wave has no headcount
Reports describe a BRS joining event in Hyderabad, but the names, numbers and party records remain missing.
The reported joining programme has one named participant and no published headcount.
Multiple reports published on September 29 said that Atram Rahul, described as a former Kothaguda sarpanch and Khanapur constituency Youth Congress president, attended a BRS joining programme at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad. BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and Khanapur constituency in-charge Bhukya Johnson Naik were reported to have attended. (IND Today; Telangana Today)
The reports also described former MPTC members, former deputy sarpanches and tribal leaders from Utnoor and Indervelli as joining from the Congress and BJP. But no complete list, headcount, membership record, resignation letter or individual confirmation has been published. The reports do not establish which unnamed person came from which party. The Congress has not publicly clarified Atram Rahul’s current organisational status, and the BJP’s position on the reported departures is not on record.
