KRMB punts; AP wants 47 TMC now

Andhra Pradesh pitched 47 TMC from Krishna by October — including 22 TMC via Pothireddypadu — and the KRMB kicked the can to September 4. Telangana asked for a 50:50 split; AP clung to 66:34. The BJP-led Centre’s KRMB has paperwork, just not in public yet.

A giant pipe labelled Krishna hangs over a nearly dry irrigation canal while competing water-share cards, a sealed minutes envelope and a huge KRMB file rolling toward a September 4 calendar page fill a meeting-room table.

The Krishna water-sharing decision was deferred to September 4, with the competing 47-TMC demand and 50:50 and 66:34 formulas still unresolved.

Andhra Pradesh pressed for 47 TMC of Krishna water for drinking use till end-October, with 22 TMC routed through Pothireddypadu and further draws via Handri–Neeva and Nagarjuna Sagar. That was at the KRMB three-member committee meet in Hyderabad on August 24, chaired by Member Secretary Satish Kamboj with the ENCs of both states present, according to reports.

According to AP’s Engineer-in-Chief K. Narasimha Murthy, Telangana “agreed” to the 22 TMC through Pothireddypadu. Telangana’s Engineer-in-Chief O.V. Ramesh Babu, meanwhile, was reported as opposing AP’s demand and alleging AP has already used 10 TMC beyond its share — an allegation attributed to him, not a published KRMB finding.

Two uncontested facts: the meeting took no final call and adjourned to September 4; and KRMB sought project-wise details from Telangana rather than a bulk 47-TMC ask. The share formula fight stayed where Delhi likes it — muddy. AP pushed to keep 66:34; Telangana asked for 50:50. The BJP-led Centre’s river board says it keeps minutes; none from this meeting are on the public page yet. Congress runs Karnataka; AP’s TDP wants more Krishna; and the file sits — right where a delayed decision helps everyone except Telangana.
