KRMB sets Aug 13 meet. Telangana wasn’t asked?

A report says the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) has fixed a three‑member committee meeting for 11 a.m. on August 13 at Jalasoudha, to weigh available storage at Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar against the two states’ demands for the 2026–27 water year. The note is said to have gone from Member Secretary Satish Kamboj to the engineer‑in‑chiefs of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, after AP’s Water Resources Department sought a meeting on August 4. What the record supports: KRMB does run such a three‑member format — the Member Secretary plus the two E‑in‑Cs — to consider state indents and recommend releases the Board then orders. That’s in the KRMB’s own annual reports. What the public record does not show yet: the August 7 scheduling letter, AP’s August 4 request, or whether Telangana was asked before the date was set.

Background the Board itself publishes: Srisailam is a common project with an irrigation MDDL of 854 ft; the committee exists to make working arrangements when the states disagree. None of that answers the immediate question that matters here — whether Telangana’s say was treated as optional while the BJP‑led Centre’s KRMB moved on AP’s timing.

Telangana has previously pressed for KRMB‑convened decisions on drinking‑water needs with named officers around the table. If the Board has now scheduled a meet off a single state’s prod and without basic consultation, the Congress and BJP will have to explain why Telangana’s seat keeps being left warm rather than heard. The KRMB has published no August 13 notice on its site; the Board and Andhra Pradesh are welcome to put their letters on the record if they want this to read like coordination rather than convenience.
