Palamuru gets 18 TMC; questions get none

K. T. Rama Rao demanded water for Palamuru’s irrigation schemes and the Jurala ayacut at Pebbair in Wanaparthy district on September 19, warning that the BRS would take the issue to the streets if the Telangana government did not act. The Congress government has yet to publicly answer the specific figures he put forward.
KTR claimed that 248 TMC had flowed into the Krishna, but only 18 TMC had been released to the Jurala ayacut during the season. He also alleged that at least three Kalwakurthy pumps were not operated and that its command area received less than 10 TMC. Those figures have not been independently confirmed by an irrigation department release, reservoir bulletin or Krishna River Management Board record.
He also warned that a proposed five-metre increase in Karnataka’s Almatti dam could affect Palamuru’s future water availability, and asked why Telangana could not seek 5 TMC from Almatti and Narayanpur. Karnataka’s formal position on the proposal is not established in the material reviewed. The water may be measurable; the government’s answers remain less so.
