PMAY-G for others, wait for Telangana
Ponguleti says the Centre hasn’t sent “a single rupee” for rural Indiramma houses. The Union’s own tables list releases to 12 states. Telangana isn’t on them. The BJP-led Centre hasn’t explained why.
Telangana says rural Indiramma house payments are being met from the state’s own funds as it waits for a PMAY-G release.
Telangana Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on 26 August alleged the BJP-led Centre has not released “even a single rupee” for rural Indiramma houses despite requests over a year. The allegation was posted on social media and reported locally; the original post could not be independently opened due to access restrictions. The charge is his on the record; the paperwork behind it has not been published.
What is on the record: Indiramma Indlu is a Telangana scheme that provides Rs 5 lakh per house as a 100% subsidy, according to G.O. Ms. No. 7 dated 9 March 2024. Separately, the Union Rural Development Ministry’s latest PMAY-G reply notes Telangana “did not implement PMAY-G” in FY 2016–2024, and the Centre’s state-wise PMAY-G progress tables carry no Telangana row. On 28 May, the ministry announced Rs 10,021.42 crore of PMAY-G sanction for 12 states — Assam to Uttar Pradesh — a list that did not include Telangana.
Ponguleti’s side says beneficiaries who finished houses are waiting on final bills and that the state has begun paying from its own pocket. The specific Rs 72,000-per-house central component he referenced in another post is his claim; neither a sanction letter nor a Union guideline excerpt establishing that figure for Telangana was available in the documents reviewed. The BJP-led Centre has not bothered to explain Telangana’s absence from its May sanction list or to publish any Telangana-specific PMAY-G approval. The silence is doing the talking.
