Pulivendula: 1,000 police, zero records released
Stone-pelting was confirmed and a journalist attack was reported. The booth-capture claims remain allegations the Andhra SEC has not bothered to settle with records.
A thousand police personnel were deployed, but the election records remain unreleased.
Andhra Pradesh's civic polling in Pulivendula produced the familiar TDP–YSRCP spectacle: clashes, stone-pelting and a police deployment of about 1,000 personnel, backed by CCTV cameras and drones. Kurnool Range DIG Koya Praveen confirmed the stone-pelting and said police were working to restore normalcy. The polling was held on November 1, 2026.
A police-linked report also said two journalists were attacked near Gandhi Statue Circle in Ahobilapuram at about 8:10 a.m., with a camera damaged after its memory card and battery were removed. A case was reportedly registered, though the FIR number and sections have not been published.
Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy protested outside the Returning Officer's office and sought a repoll. The YSRCP alleged that 70 of its 80 polling agents were kept out, that voters were obstructed, bogus votes were cast and that officials assisted the TDP. Those are serious allegations. They are only allegations: no booth-wise report, agent-access register, presiding officer's diary, CCTV release or State Election Commission finding has been published to establish them.
The TDP rejected the YSRCP account and accused Jagan of orchestrating violence and arson to disrupt polling. That version also remains an allegation. The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission is the institution responsible for supervising local-body elections under Articles 243K and 243ZA. Its silence leaves the public with rival party stories and no usable record.
This is what administrative failure looks like when dressed as a political contest: a thousand police personnel, damaged journalistic equipment and an election dispute that can be settled only by records nobody has produced. The TDP government in Andhra Pradesh cannot demand trust while leaving the evidence cupboard locked.
