A report on August 11 said BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao helped facilitate the return of a Warangal woman, identified as Mahamuda, from Muscat after she allegedly travelled on a tourist visa on the promise of a job. The account is attributed to the woman and to Balu Kayethi Sircilla, who said he took the case to KTR and quoted him as telling him to ignore the money and focus on the rescue, and to BRS NRI Cell members in Muscat said to have coordinated legal help. According to the report, Muscat police and Indian Embassy officials then took charge and she returned to India.
The Indian Embassy in Muscat publicly records cases of Indians stranded on visit visas and later repatriated — entries show assistance with overstay fines, employer disputes and returns — but we could not identify an entry that clearly matches Mahamuda’s case. Muscat airport’s own guidance says employment visas must be arranged in advance; a tourist visa is not a work permit.
If the rescue unfolded as described, credit where it’s due: a Telangana leader moved and a Telangana woman got home. The BJP-led Centre and Congress-run states love to posture about “Nari Shakti” from a dais; the work is getting your citizen out of a bind abroad, not another slogan. The Embassy’s database shows the machinery exists — using it when it’s a Telangana woman is the standard, not a favour.
