SIR is on; spin is louder
Draft roll done, claims open till August 30; final list due October 1. Parties are shouting conspiracy; the record isn’t.

Telangana’s Special Intensive Revision is in the claims-and-objections phase under the Election Commission’s May 14 schedule: the draft electoral roll was due July 31, claims run July 31–August 30, hearings through September 28, and the final roll on October 1, 2026. That is the operative calendar; nothing new has changed it. According to the ECI’s order and annexure, the qualifying date is also October 1.
Into this, the Telangana BJP has alleged Congress and AIMIM leaders are creating hurdles and intimidating Booth Level Officers in parts of Hyderabad, citing a memorandum to the state CEO. That is their claim; no Commission order or CEO action confirming it is on record in this sweep. The same BJP leader publicly assured that no “genuine voter” would be deleted — a political promise, not an ECI finding.
On the other mic, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has alleged the BJP and BRS are colluding to scrub Congress voters — SC, ST, BC, minority and women — from the rolls. That is also an allegation reported from a party meeting; no ECI or court document has validated a coordinated deletion drive. The BRS, for its part, has told cadre to make sure every eligible voter stays on and duplicate entries go — standard fare in a revision.
For voters who prefer doing, not decoding, the ECI portal hosts the search and SIR materials; applications and objections are meant to be processed now. What matters is filed forms and heard claims, not who yelled “conspiracy” louder on a stage.
