SIT demand meets Telangana’s very selective paperwork

BRS general secretary RS Praveen Kumar has demanded an SIT inquiry into alleged gang wars in Telangana and an investigation into police postings made under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who also holds the Home portfolio, according to a report on his August 29 press conference. The broader claim remains unverified. The paperwork, unlike the politics, is still catching up.

A case was registered on August 20 after real-estate businessman Gongidi Harikrishna alleged that N Sumanth, a former OSD to minister Konda Surekha, and others assaulted him with iron rods in Jubilee Hills on July 30. Medipally police registered a Zero FIR and transferred it to Jubilee Hills. Three alleged associates were arrested and remanded, while Sumanth was reported absconding. Jubilee Hills SHO M Muthu Yadav was suspended over alleged negligence in handling the complaint. These reports establish a complaint, arrests and a suspension—not a statewide gang war.

Praveen Kumar also linked a constable’s August 12 death at the LB Nagar ACP office to pressure on police personnel. Police-based reporting described it as a suspected suicide; the family alleged foul play. That link to alleged gang violence has not been established. The Chief Minister’s Office, Home Department, DGP’s office and the named officers have not publicly responded in the material reviewed. Telangana has a demand for an SIT. What it does not yet have is the government’s answer—or the government’s evidence.
