Six DAs pending, protest detained

BRS MLA T. Harish Rao was taken into custody at a Telangana government employees’ protest outside the Hanamkonda Collectorate on August 27, according to multiple reports. Former minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, former chief whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar and other BRS leaders were also detained and taken to Subedari police station, the reports said.
The protest raised demands including six pending dearness allowance instalments, implementation of the Pay Revision Commission, settlement of retirement benefits, scrapping of the Contributory Pension Scheme and restoration of the Old Pension Scheme. Local employee-union coverage listed the same demands. The number of pending DAs remains an attributed employee and Harish Rao claim; no official arrears statement was found in the material reviewed.
Reports also said Harish Rao had been placed under house arrest earlier while travelling to Warangal. That claim has not been backed by a police order in the material reviewed. The Congress government and Hanamkonda police have not publicly explained the detention in the sources examined. Six DAs may be pending; the explanation for detaining the person demanding them remains pending too.
