BRS leaders in Narsampet protested on Monday after municipal officials used earth movers late Sunday night to demolish a newly built pedestal meant for a statue of former MLA Peddi Sudharshan Reddy. According to a local report, officials said there was no permission to install the statue. No notice, order or named official has been produced to back that claim so far.
Former minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, MLC Takkallapalli Ravinder Rao, former MP Boinapally Vinod Kumar and others joined a rasta‑roko. Police tried to take leaders into custody and a scuffle followed, the report said. It did not list detentions, injuries or cases.
BRS leader Akula Srinivas said the pedestal stood on private land opposite the Government Medical College at Sarvapuram and that cadres had performed bhoomi pooja days earlier. The “private land” assertion is the party’s — no land records or an owner’s on‑record statement have been published.
