Telangana’s election calendar has four blank spaces
Local-body polls are pending, Khairatabad is vacant, Hyderabad has three corporations and the Graduate MLC rolls are being rebuilt. Dates remain the missing paperwork.
Several electoral exercises are pending in Telangana, but their polling dates remain unpublished.
Telangana is heading towards several electoral tests before the 2028 Assembly election. The tests are real. The timetable, less so.
The State Election Commission notified ordinary elections to Gram Panchayats and MPTCs/ZPTCs on September 29, 2025, but a current polling schedule was not located. Hyderabad was reorganised into three municipal corporations—Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri—by a February 11, 2026 Gazette notification. Their elections, however, have not been scheduled in the records reviewed.
Khairatabad is now vacant after the Telangana High Court disqualified Danam Nagender with effect from April 23, 2024 and declared the seat vacant. That makes a bypoll the obvious next possibility; the Election Commission has not yet published its dates. Meanwhile, fresh electoral rolls are being prepared for Telangana’s two Graduate MLC constituencies ahead of elections due in March 2027. Existing names will not automatically carry forward.
Congress, BRS and BJP will read political omens into every contest. They may first want to locate the calendar.
