Telugu cinema collects seven National Film honours
The 72nd National Film Awards recognised films, writers, designers and technicians across Telugu cinema, while the ceremony began the Centre’s plan to take the event beyond Delhi.
The 72nd National Film Awards were presented at Ekta Nagar, Kevadia, on September 22.
Telugu cinema did not merely turn up at the 72nd National Film Awards; it left with a fairly substantial receipt. The awards, presented by President Droupadi Murmu at Ekta Nagar, Kevadia, on September 22, recognised films from the 2024 award year. (PIB)
Kalki 2898 AD won Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Production Design. 35 – Chinna Katha Kaadu won Best Children’s Film, while Arundev Pothula shared the Best Child Artist award. Pushpa: The Rule Part-02 won Best Screenplay — Original and shared Best Costume Design. Lucky Baskhar won Best Screenplay — Dialogue Writer, and Committee Kurrollu won Best Make-up. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said the Ekta Nagar ceremony marked its plan to hold future National Film Awards in different parts of the country, taking them “beyond the National Capital”. Delhi’s monopoly now has company. (PIB)
