Two BRS MLCs arrested after Assembly gate clash
Thatha Madhu and Naveen Kumar Reddy were arrested over alleged remarks against Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. The remarks remain allegations; the police assault claims remain contested.

Two BRS MLCs, Thatha Madhusudan—also reported as Tata Madhu—and N. Naveen Kumar Reddy, were arrested on September 8 in a case concerning alleged remarks against Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, according to multiple reports.
The case was filed on a complaint by the Speaker’s Officer on Special Duty, Pollepalli Venkatesham. Reports said it invoked provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The exact BNS section is unclear in the available reports: one account lists Section 352, while another lists Section 152. The FIR itself was not available in the material reviewed.
The arrests followed Monday’s confrontation at the Assembly gates, where BRS legislators wearing black and carrying slogans were stopped by police. The complaint alleges that the MLCs abused or publicly humiliated the Speaker. Those are allegations, not court findings. Madhu denied targeting the Speaker, saying his remarks were directed at police during the confrontation. “If any of my remarks are perceived as being directed at the Speaker, I withdraw them and express regret,” he said.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Legislative Affairs Minister D. Sridhar Babu sought action against Madhu in the Assembly. The police are reported to be reviewing video footage and witness statements. The government has managed to turn an Assembly gate into the opening act; the FIR will have to do the rest.
