Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has cast India’s political contest as a fight between the “Gandhi Parivar” and the “Sangh Parivar”. Speaking at an event in Nilambur, Kerala, on September 25, he also said he wanted to see Rahul Gandhi become prime minister, according to published reports.
Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao, responding from Australia on September 26, called the comparison “completely baseless and meaningless”. His reported formulation was: “The Gandhi family is first for the Congress, but the nation is first for the BJP.” BJP spokesperson N V Subash separately questioned Congress’s claim to the Gandhi legacy. Congress and Revanth Reddy have not publicly responded to Rao’s criticism in the material reviewed.
