Two years, one ED silence, zero status updates

The BRS went to the Enforcement Directorate’s Hyderabad office on September 28, 2026, seeking the status and outcome of searches conducted at premises linked to Telangana minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, his son P. Harsha Reddy and associated businesses in September 2024. Police initially stopped the delegation before ED officials received its representation. [1]

The representation reportedly sought details of seizures, notices, summonses, any prosecution complaint and the current status of the investigation. It also asked the ED to say whether the matter was still pending or, if closed, why. A modest request after two years: what happened to the case?

The 2024 searches were reported at around 16 locations. Reports linked them to a Customs/DRI inquiry involving luxury watches and alleged hawala or cryptocurrency payments, but the ED did not publicly explain the action at the time. The available record does not establish wrongdoing by Ponguleti personally, a prosecution complaint, seizures, or political suppression. [2][3][4]

K.T. Rama Rao alleged a Congress-BJP arrangement had given the minister “immunity”. That remains a political allegation, not an established finding. Ponguleti’s earlier response to the Customs matter was that his son would issue a statement. No current response from Ponguleti, Harsha Reddy, the Congress or the BJP to the BRS demand is recorded in the material reviewed. [5]
