UK yes, US ‘inappropriate’

The BJP‑led Centre cleared Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s visit to the UK — and denied political clearance for the US leg of the same tour. The MEA’s line: the US programme “was not appropriate to the office held and the purpose of the visit,” while the UK one passed its test. It did not say which meeting failed the purity check. Reddy flew to London on 20 August and was due in the US on 23 August; after the denial, he turned back to Hyderabad. He called the move an insult to Telangana and an obstruction to the state’s development, alleging “clear discrimination” by the BJP‑led Centre. The CMO says permission for both countries was sought as per protocol, and that Delhi told them clearance was being denied “on political grounds.” The BJP’s state unit dutifully says there was “no political motive” — just regulations doing regulation things. None of that answers the only useful question: what, precisely, was ruled “inappropriate” in the US plan.
The MEA’s spokesperson is on record. So is the CM. What’s missing are the documents: the denial letter and the full itinerary. Until the BJP‑led Centre can point to the offending line item instead of a vibe check, Telangana is being asked to take a black box for an explanation.
