Unity Mall visit? Blocked

BRS leaders say police stopped their site inspection at Raidurg’s PM Ekta Unity Mall. The Congress government in Telangana still hasn’t answered the tender questions — just the people asking them.

A barricade blocks a file marked ‘Unity Mall tender’ outside a fenced construction site near Malkam Cheruvu, while unanswered question marks pile up behind it.

Questions about the Raidurg Unity Mall tender remain behind a police barricade.

BRS leaders who went to inspect the PM Ekta Unity Mall site opposite Malkam Cheruvu in Raidurg on August 12 were stopped by police from entering, according to a local report published that afternoon. BRS cadres staged a protest nearby; MLCs Dasoju Sravan and Shambipur Raju raised “CM down down” slogans at the barricade, the report said.

The project itself exists on paper beyond slogans. A tender listing describes “Development of Unity Mall Twin Towers on Joint Development Basis under PPP Mode” at Raidurg, issued by the Industries and Commerce Department via the Telangana Trade Promotion Corporation (ref. TGTPC/UMT/RFP-Developer/2026) with bids closing March 16, 2026. An earlier write-up pegs the plan at about 5.16 acres with a proposed 50-storey tower under PPP. Those are documents and dated descriptions; the award status is not recorded in the listing.

K.T. Rama Rao has alleged the Congress government inserted illegal, suspicious tender conditions to benefit a private developer and said he wrote to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman seeking a halt to central funds and an inquiry, per the same report. These are his allegations; the underlying tender clauses and any official response are not on the public record in the material we could locate. The Congress government in Telangana has not bothered to explain why opposition legislators were blocked from a site visit or to put the tender file in the daylight — which would settle more than a barricade ever will.
