Voter-roll plea reaches court; 13 crore claim waits

A petition reportedly filed in the Supreme Court on September 25 seeks prosecution directions against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and other officials, along with an SIT or judicial inquiry into alleged voter deletions during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Advocate Shailendra Mani Tripathi filed it under Article 32, according to legal-news reports.
The plea also seeks restoration of the original Form 6, preservation of ECINet and ERONet records, and a declaration that decisions or software changes made without full Election Commission concurrence are void. It reportedly relies on a separate investigation that found Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had recorded at least 14 objections over 10 months. Sandhu is reported to have described the Form 6 change as “unauthorised and illegal”. Those are allegations in the petition, not findings by the court.
The Election Commission’s reported position is that SIR-related decisions were unanimous. The Supreme Court diary number, registration status, listing and any order issuing notice have not been independently confirmed. The petition’s reported claim that 13 crore voters were deleted also remains unverified by an official dataset. The paperwork is asking for answers; the court has not yet supplied them.
