Yakutpura’s 878-vote result meets 11,860 duplicates
The electoral figure is official. The 84% Muslim-name estimate is not — and the distinction matters before anyone turns a draft list into a political weapon.
The official result and the attributed estimate are not the same record.
Yakutpura was decided by 878 votes in 2023. The Election Commission recorded AIMIM’s Jaffar Hussain with 46,153 votes against MBT’s Amjed Ullah Khan with 45,275. That is the official part of the story.
The less official part is the claim that 84% of 11,860 entries marked “duplicate” in the draft ASDD list had Muslim names. That figure comes from a Siasat analysis using a name-based model, not from an ECI religion-wise dataset. Electoral rolls do not contain a religion field, and the analysis itself says the estimate has a margin of error.
The Telangana Chief Electoral Officer’s website lists the official ASDD material, but the linked list could not be independently retrieved during this check. Nor does the available research establish that any of the 11,860 entries were finally deleted, or that a duplicate classification proves fraud. Claims and hearings were still part of the process described in the report.
So the verified political fact is a constituency won by 878 votes. The 84% figure remains an attributed estimate awaiting the underlying data. The Congress, BJP and TDP can save the grand speeches until someone produces the list and the method; Telangana’s voters deserve records, not another election-season fog machine.
