418 postponed: horror’s last warning was the release date

Mythri Movie Makers has postponed 418, its horror thriller led by debutant writer-director Kirtan Nadagouda. The film will not release on September 18, the date announced when its trailer arrived on September 11. The makers say a new date will be announced alongside a “grand multi-language release”. They have not announced that date yet.

The trailer sets up an 18-year-old named Vivek, a building sealed for 15 years, Room No. 418 and a watchman’s warning. Devika, described in the trailer report as pregnant, is also part of the setup. BookMyShow gives the film a medical-college setting and frames it around the science behind superstition, superstition in science and an anomaly neither can explain.

Chaithra J Achar, Ramesh Indira, Surya Raj Veerabathini, Charan Lakkaraju and Preethi Pagadala are among the listed cast. Naveen Yerneni and Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar produce, with Prashanth Neel presenting. The film’s first confirmed release date has now joined the long tradition of horror stories becoming frightening before the audience reaches the theatre.
